So when I was walking around earlier, I came upon this “Little Free Library” in front of a house.
This is a “Take a book, leave a book” kind of project done by the 7 year old kid who lives in the house. Inside was a note written by the kid saying that he created the little library because “people should never not have a book with them”.
This is probably the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.
“I never do nothing. People always ask me do I relax? I guess that means sitting on a beach and reading a book or watching television. I do all of that. I don’t know what nothing is. If it means going to a bar and just getting drunk I don’t want to do that… when I’m working I’m happy and I don’t really need a break in the same way that somebody who hates his job might. I work with all my friends and people I love so work is also my social life.”

Some journalists like to be strictly observers. they don’t intervene, they don’t participate. they just document what they see, even if what they see is terrible. But the way I see it, journalists don’t exist in a vacuum. They are human beings, living and working in a very human environment. And that humanity is essential in relating to their stories. When you lose your humanity, you lose any kind of journalistic integrity you have left.
